P.S. Jackson Pollock was killed in an automobile accident sixty-eight years ago today. In 2010, David Grann reported on an art-world scandal involving a controversial authenticator who claimed to have discovered a partial fingerprint of Pollock’s on a supposedly long-lost drip painting by the artist, purchased for five dollars at a thrift shop in California.
