Five films released by The New Yorker were among the nominees for the ninety-fifth Academy Awards, announced this morning. The films span the categories of documentary, animation, and live action, and explore such themes as the dangers of P.T.S.D. and xenophobia, the threats posed by climate change, the bonds between fathers and sons, the precarity of life, and the ways in which public harassment goes unpunished.
