The Golden State Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr, whose father was shot to death in Beirut, in 1984, responded to the shooting in Texas yesterday by excoriating lawmakers for their inaction. “They won’t vote on it because they want to hold on to their own power,” he said. “It’s pathetic. I’ve had enough.” In 2016, the journalist Farid Farid spoke to Kerr just days after another mass shooting, at the Pulse night club, in Orlando. “You understand how much they are suffering, just like how our family went through that suffering,” Kerr said. “When you think of it, all of these statistics have names and these names have faces. They are people who are now lost.”
